Performing Qualia 2
A dance piece / installation by Carl Desmet (noumenon design) and Dolores Hulan (choreographer/dancer). The mechanical motion of a stage machine is contrasted with the organic motion of two dancers. A large mirror and light set-up lets the two bodies seemingly merge. The machine consist of four layers of moving ropes, painted in black and white.
I wrote a prototyping software that allowed testing of different arrangements of the ropes, different painting patterns and motion sequences. A performance software, that communicated between music, light and motion was also written. Programming was done in processing, using timeliner and interfacing with 4 industrial servos over arduino.
